Senior Safety & Risk Trainer, Safety & Risk Services

"Safety isn't just for large businesses. MEM has trained me to be able to provide safety and workers compensation guidance to all sizes and forms of business, no matter who they are."

Hobbies or interests: Time spent with family, golfing, helping my two sons operate their businesses – dog walking and lawn care.

What I’m passionate about: Getting work done, finishing projects, moving the needle, and doing a great job. Keeping customers happy through quality work, and being effective at keeping employees free from injury.

Favorite part of my workday: Providing education. Writing articles or tool box talks, providing safety webinars, providing in-person training, and conference presentations – educating as many employers and employees as humanly possible. As a member of MEM’s team of “educators” we provide training and education to thousands of Missouri employees each year.

Biggest benefit of working at MEM: Being able to be a true safety professional. MEM’s “customer service excellence” culture naturally allows me to really help employees and employers.

How working at MEM has changed me: Safety isn’t just for large businesses. MEM has trained me to be able to provide safety and workers compensation guidance to all sizes and forms of business, no matter who they are. We provide strategies to help everyone – any type or size of business – to be safe, be prepared, and have a plan.

What surprised me about working at MEM: I was shocked about the quantity of employee injuries MEM receives every day. Unfortunately, MEM takes in thousands of employee injury reports per year. That provided me with a purpose and challenge – what is the best way to reach as many Missouri employers and employees with appropriate safety messages as possible?

How I’d describe the culture at MEM: MEM experts have a drive to share knowledge and help. Many of our folks jump at the chance to educate employers and help them avoid financial and human loss. With many of our staff, it’s not just an insurance job. Our professionals do so much to educate and guide employers and employees – and make a personal commitment to keeping everyone safe.

My biggest accomplishment while working here: Being able to partner with so many policyholders, employer groups, industry groups, associations, and conferences to expand a safety message across not only Missouri, but the Midwest. Helping build and maintain safety partnerships is an important way we keep employers and employees safe.

What it means to be a Safety Fanatic: It’s an opportunity for all MEM employees to help push safety messages – like seat belt policies, safety rules, and drug-free workplace policies – to MEM employers. Safety helps EVERYONE – employees, our policyholders, MEM, and the entire state of Missouri. Employees get hurt in life-altering and life-ending ways, and it would be very cool if every MEM employee did just ONE thing more to help Missouri workers and employers be safer.
