People and Culture | Community Impact

Leading means caring.

We’ve learned along the way what it takes to build safe, productive workplaces. We’re proud of our success – and we’ve made it part of our company mission to share it with the communities we call home. Our Corporate Impact Program helps us extend this work throughout the Midwest, helping people around us be healthier, safer and more confident.

Corporate and Employee Donations

Year-round, MEM supports numerous fundraising efforts of local charities through sponsorship, matching gifts, charitable gifts and in-kind services. We support organizations within MEM’s charitable giving focus areas:

  • Safety
  • Health and wellness
  • Education and skills development

In 2020, MEM’s corporate monetary donations, combined with more than $76,000 from our employees and their volunteer time, benefited more than 100 organizations throughout Missouri where our employees live and work. In fact, on average, more than 60 percent of MEM employees donate 2000-plus hours of volunteer time annually.

From the time spent by MEM employees at our summer feeding sites, to here in the volunteer room to time spent at our larger food drives, you all have really set a standard for philanthropy and commitment to community service in this community.”
Lindsay Lopez, Executive Director, The Food Bank for Central and Northeast Missouri

  • In 2020, more than 50 MEM employees volunteered remotely to donate blankets to organizations across the state.
  • In August, MEM donated sanitizing equipment to First Chance for Children’s Library to serve families using their early childhood resources.
  • Each year, MEM allows each employee 16 hours of paid volunteer time off to serve causes they are passionate about.
  • MEM chooses to serve communities where we work and live with both volunteer time and charitable donations.
  • Thanks to the generosity of our employees, MEM is consistently a Heart of Missouri United Way Pacesetter.
  • In August, we raised more than $10,000 for Kids Chance of Missouri through our internal events during MEM's annual WorkSAFE Week.
  • In October, MEM raised more than $80,000 for the Food Bank for Central and Northeast Missouri’s Score Against Hunger Match Campaign.
  • In December, MEM donated 20 iPads to Truman Veterans Hospital for patients to use with virtual visitors and family members.
