Remembering 21 Good Things in 2021

What did 2021 bring you and your business? What are you celebrating? At MEM, the start of a new year gives us a chance to look back on the impact we’ve made in the communities we serve. Enjoy our top 21 corporate impact moments of 2021 list. We wish you the best as you approach the new year ready to move forward safely and with confidence!

  1. Collected and donated clothing for our partner in education, Gentry Middle School.
  2. Pulled weeds, planted and made our Adopt a Spot bloom and thrive.
  3. Completed a match campaign with The Food Bank for Central and Northeast Missouri for the fourth year in a row. During that four years, the match between MEM and The Food Bank has raised more than $375,000.
  4. Cheered on President and CEO of Previsor, Tim Jackman after we learned his passion for safety and service brought him a Board Member of the Year Award from the Boys and Girls Clubs of Columbia.
  5. Helped build strength, stability and shelter for future residents of Habitat for Humanity of Springfield homes with a donation of office furniture.
  6. Sponsored the Voluntary Action Center’s Holiday Program and as volunteers, learned about the massive organization it takes to collect and sort donations benefitting more than 1,000 families.
  7. Learned why our employees are passionate about the causes they chose to support through volunteering, like Carol Lees and her work with Toys for Tots.
  8. Kept walking. Every month. Donated proceeds from our MEM virtual 5ks across the state. Employees also organized walking teams for fundraising events benefitting the Susan G. Komen, The ALS Association and The Alzheimer’s Association, and MEM matched the funds they raised.
  9. Came together virtually to raise more than $11,500 for Kids Chance of Missouri during our WorkSAFE Week.
  10. Drank a few very special cups of coffee at Jaguar Java, the student coffee operation at Ann Hawkins Gentry Middle School.
  11. Celebrated 5 years of MEM’s Safety Grants Program and $2 million granted to 280 grant recipients who experienced a drastic reduction in claims.
  12. Provided $67,000 to impact the health and safety of families across Missouri on Giving Tuesday.
  13. Volunteered at two mobile pantry stops for the St. Louis Area Food Bank.
  14. Spent a morning volunteering and learning how the Veterans Urban Farm serves as a place for Veterans to build community and a healthy therapeutic environment.
  15. Stayed home to volunteer by making blankets for charities across Missouri.
  16. Picked radishes for the Ozarks Food Harvest garden in Springfield and learned it produces more than 11,000 pounds of produce each year for local pantries.
  17. Competed virtually in our first ever Executive Olympics to help raise funds for MEM’s United Way Campaign. MEM’s employees pledged to donate more than $74,000 for United Way chapters in St. Louis, Kansas City, Columbia and Springfield in 2022.
  18. Dropped off snacks and drinks for medical staff at CoxHealth in Springfield during a busy time for their emergency services personnel in July.
  19. Remembered 9/11 with the Americorps 9/11 Day of Service serving 100 families with The Harvesters mobile food pantry and Don Bosco Centers in Kansas City.
  20. Thanked first responders during MEM’s WorkSAFE week. This year MEM chose five dedicated individuals to send thank you letters, cards and snacks.
  21. Donated UV and steam sanitizing equipment to First Chance for Children to help their Lend and Learn Library clean and sanitize toys.
