In the Community: MEM Gives Back During Time of Need

April 22, 2020 • Missouri Employers Mutual

We know COVID-19 continues to affect the lives of many in the communities that we serve. We have donated to several organizations to help support their growing needs. Here’s a look at what MEM is doing to help:

Safety for First Responders and Health Care Workers

To Boone County Emergency Management, MEM donated over 300 N95 respirator masks. MEM also purchased and donated over 1,200 ounces of hand sanitizer to Boone County. Requests are received by emergency management from area first responders and health care organizations and the office deploys resources based on area of greatest need.

Meals to Those in Need

The demand for services from area food banks has spiked. MEM donated enough for 16,500 meals to food banks across the state: $2,500 to The Food Bank for Central and Northeast Missouri and $1,000 each to Ozarks Food Harvest in Springfield, Harvesters Community Food Network in Kansas City and St. Louis Area Food Bank.

United Way Emergency Relief

MEM donated $2,500 to the Heart of Missouri United Way COVID-19 Fund. One hundred percent of donations to the fund will go to those in need in Boone, Howard and Cooper counties.

Helping Foster Children

When Coyote Hill Children’s Home made the decision to cancel their pancake breakfast fundraiser for safety reasons related to COVID-19, MEM joined in the virtual pancake breakfast fundraiser, matching gifts made up to $2,500. The event raised more than $6,100.
